Summertime in the alps

Let’s go on a virtual journey through Austria: by train, we can travel to some of the most beautiful places!  Starting our journey in the capital Vienna. This city has a lot to offer, not only in summer but all throughout the year. Strolling through the “1st district” of the city, along with the beautiful buildings and relaxing in one of the several parks. The following days we visit the Schönbrunn Palace with its garden and the zoo, the Prater, a funfare, and some museums, to then continue our trip westward. We arrive in Salzburg and have a quick stop there, where we enjoy the city of Mozart at the river Salzach and climb some of the near mountains. Continuing […]

Dia do estudante

Summer in France

Let me talk about Bretagne. This region is located in the north-west part of France, just in front of the Atlantic Ocean and the Manche. It is basically the only place in France where the summer heat is still bearable nowadays. The landscapes are amazing: promenade along the sea, feet on the sand but also the countryside with beautiful vegetation and forests. You can also discover the typical houses in this region, all-white or in stones with slates roof. If you like history and magic, I advise you to walk in the Brocéliande forest. Every kid in France knows it thanks to the stories about King Arthur, the knights of the round table and Merlin the enchanter. If you prefer […]

COVID-19 e o ambiente

A Summer in Iceland

If you find yourself in Iceland during the summer months, you will be spoilt for choice as there are plenty of activities available, helped by the extended daylight hours. After the long, dark nights of the winter, Icelanders look forward to the summer and make the most of the opportunity to spend time with family and friends in the great outdoors.  There are no shortage of festivities for you to take part in during this time of year. A 17th June party is also around the time when Icelanders might dust off their old barbecues, and serve up some of their famous hot dogs, SS Pylsur.  Mid- to late-June is […]

Summer in Bonn

The former capital of Western Germany. Geographically, it lays in the western part of Germany and about 300 000 people live there.   In summer you can do lots of exciting things there.  For example, you can go to a swimming pool and Picknick there with your friends. If you rather swim in a natural lake you can drive to the Steinbachtalsperre which is about 45 minutes away. Besides that, you could also take a walk along the Rhine River and later on play football in the Rheinaue or eat some barbecue. The Rheinaue is a big park around the river initially created for the national garden show in 1979.  This year, as we celebrate the European Championship, you can also […]

Edinburgh Castle

Edinburgh Castle is one of the most prominent monuments in Scotland. It stands on Castle Rock and is the country’s most visited tourist attraction. The castle is located in the Old Town of Edinburgh. It was built on a large volcanic rock, which gives it a brilliant defensive location as the walls are either sheer cliffs or steep hills.  The history of Castle Rock began in the Iron Age, 2nd century AD, where there was a settlement, although the nature of this is not known. The royal castle can be dated back to the 12th century during the reign of David I. It continued to be a royal residence up until 1633 when the royal presence began to decline and […]

Bilderbuch

Because Bilderbuch has the perfect amount of craziness and talent they deserve to be my number one of Austria. A lot of Austrian artists tend to be a little bit “crazy” or seem to be “different” to the norm, e.g. “Falco”, “Young Hurn”, “Seiler und Speer”, “Conchita Wurst” and many, many more… In fact, there are probably more “weird” than normal, successful artists in our country. “Bilderbuch” originally was established in 2005, when the four members were approximately 14 and 15 years old –  but more or less became fully internationally known in 2017 with their major hit “Bungalow”. It also was at that time, that one of their other songs, “Maschin”, became really famous as well, although having had […]

Behemoth

Behemoth is a Polish extreme metal band from Gdańsk, formed in 1991. They are considered to have played an important role in establishing the Polish extreme metal underground. Until the late 1990s, the band played a traditional black metal style with heathen lyrical content but soon changed to that of occult and Thelemic themes written by their lead vocalist Nergal and Krzysztof Azarewicz. With the 1999 release of Satanica, the band demonstrated their presence in the death metal scene, while retaining their own signature style characterized by the drum work of Inferno, multi-layered vocals and Middle-Eastern influences. Despite Behemoth having been labeled as death metal or thrash metal-influenced, Nergal has mentioned that he does not like the band to be […]
