Gerwin van der Werf

The Writing Teacher Gerwin van der Werf is not a name that many non-Dutch people know nor are able to pronounce properly. Not a lot of Dutch people know him or his work either. He is not a famous writer of literature that creates complex novels with hidden themes and multiple meanings but he is one of the greatest Dutch writers. He has written four novels, Gewapende Man (2010), Wild (2011), Luchtvissers (2013) en Een Onbarmhartig Pad (2018). Erwin Kräutler

An Austro-Brazilian Roman Catholic bishop and also a writer. Erwin Kräutler was born 1939 in Koblach Austria where he grew up as the eldest of six children. In 1980 he was appointed coadjutor prelate of Xingu, the largest diocese in Brazil in terms of area. Upon the resignation of Erich Kräutler, who was his uncle, he became Prelate of Xingu in September 1981. Between 1983 and 1991 and since 2006 he served as President of the Indigenous Missionary Council of the Brazilian Catholic church. Since the 1980s he has helped secure the inclusion of indigenous peoples’ rights into the Brazilian constitution. The man who created The Witcher. Andrzej Sapkowski was born on 20th March 1948 in Łódź and has lived there until now. He is the second most popular Polish author of fantasy books, which books have been translated into other languages. Witkacy – an interwar artist

Stanisław Ignacy Witkiewicz was a Polish writer and painter, commonly known as Witkacy. Witkacy was born on the 24th February 1885 in Warsaw. His father-Stanisław Witkiewicz was a painter, art critic, architect and prose writer. To distinguish from his famous father, he had called himself Witkacy, combining his second name with the last name. He spent his childhood and youth in Zakopane, growing up surrounded by an artistic bohemia. He made his debut as a painter in 1901 in Zakopane, where he had presented his two landscape paintings. Sonia Delaunay

Her art is remarkable, especially the first period of her work with this kind of cubism, it is even more astonishing if you keep in mind that this was painted before the art of Mondrian. Born in 1885 in Ukraine, Sophia (her first name) will spend her childhood in St. Petersburg then in Germany with her uncle. She studied art and drawing in Karlsruhe in Germany until 1905. Gustav Klimt

Gustav Klimt, born in July 1862, is an Austrian painter and one of the most famous representatives of Viennese Art Nouveau. He was born and raised in Vienna, where he lived with his six siblings and his parents. Because of a studentship he was able to study from 1876 until 1883 at the Vienna School of Decorative Arts. After University he opened an independent studio specializing in the execution of mural paintings. His early work had a classical style that was typical of late 19th century academic painting, as can be seen in his murals for the Vienna Burgtheater. Tove Jansson is mostly known as an author and the creator of Moomins. She was a novelist, illustrator, comic strip author and painter. Jansson was born in Helsinki in 9th of August in 1914 to a Swedish-speaking family. Her father was a sculptor and mother a graphic designer and illustrator. Tove’s two brothers became artists as well: Per Olov Jansson became a photographer and Lars Jansson an author and cartoonist. É a segunda vez em dez anos que a procura supera a oferta de vagas. Apresentaram-se à 1.ª fase do concurso nacional de acesso 51.291 estudantes, o que representa um aumento de 3,4% face ao ano passado. Haverá estudantes a ficar de fora quando em Setembro forem conhecidas as colocações no ensino superior público. O número de candidatos à 1.ª fase do concurso nacional de acesso, que encerrou à meia-noite desta quarta-feira, supera o total de vagas disponibilizadas palas instituições. São 51.291 alunos a lutar por 50.860 lugares. O total de candidatos divulgado pela Direcção-Geral do Ensino Superior nesta madrugada representa um aumento de 3,4% em relação ao ano passado — quando se tinham candidatado 49.625 estudantes. No âmbito do projeto Greening the Curriculum da Académica da Madeira, financiado pelo Programa de Inovação e Transformação Social (PRINT) da Direção Regional da Juventude (DRJ), em cooperação com o Programa Eco-Escolas do Politécnico da Universidade da Madeira e contando com o apoio logístico do Departamento de Ambiente da Câmara Municipal do Funchal, decorreram, nos dias 13 e 14 de outubro de 2020, com a participação de 224 voluntários, ações de limpeza no Campus da Penteada e sua envolvente. Número de downloads da app STAYAWAY COVID dispara… Além da COVID-19, o tema do momento é a possível obrigatoriedade da instalação da app STAYAWAY COVID. O Governo de António Costa quer que alguns grupos da sociedade sejam obrigados a instalar a app e o país revoltou-se! As multas para quem não o fizer também são elevadas. Certamente que tal revolta é apenas porque se poderá tornar “obrigatório” instalar a app, até porque percebe que muitos portugueses continuam a não perceber como funciona internamente (a divulgação/apresentação da app falhou claramente). Financiamento FCT no OE para 2021

A proposta no Orçamento do Estado para 2021 relativa à Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia representa um aumento de 14,9% face ao dinheiro efectivamente executado em 2020 (ainda uma estimativa) por esta agência. A Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia (FCT) terá 662 milhões de euros em 2021 (incluindo fundos nacionais e comunitários), segundo a proposta de Orçamento do Estado (OE) entregue esta segunda-feira na Assembleia da República. No ano passado, a proposta do OE relativa à FCT para 2020 atingia 685 milhões de euros orçamentados e o que veio de facto a ser gasto – ou seja, executado – situa-se nos 576 milhões, de acordo com as estimativas de execução previstas para o ano em curso. Primeiro Ecrã Transparente

A investigadora Elvira Fortunato recebeu um prémio europeu pela criação do primeiro ecrã transparente com materiais ecossustentáveis. A tecnologia é aplicável a telemóveis, televisores, computadores ou ‘tablets’, permitindo obter imagens de maior resolução. A engenheira de materiais e investigadora Elvira Fortunato, “mãe” do transístor de papel, foi esta quarta-feira distinguida pela Comissão Europeia com o Prémio Impacto Horizonte 2020, pela criação do primeiro ecrã transparente com materiais ecossustentáveis.
